Newest Strip: August 28, 2008![]()
News from the frontAugust 20, 2008: So I just noticed that Facebook has this sweet new feature called Pages, which allows important and self-important people to create official pages about themselves and their creations, similar to the Music, Movies, and Comedian sites on MySpace, only less retarded. In light of that, there is now a Page-with-a-capital-"P" on there for Mandy. I'll add a proper link soon, but for now you can get to it here. July 24, 2008: In light of their mention in today's strip, this seems like a good time to officially express my gratitude to the Internet's urban exploration community. Not only has my own interest in the subject inspired me to write this part of the storyline, but their online photo galleries have been invaluable in designing the backgrounds. You all stay awesome out there! And for those of you who have no clue what "urban exploration is" (beyond what's been implied in the strip, of course), Wikipedia has the answers you seek. July 3, 2008: As it so happens, most of the dogs in this strip don't have set-in-stone names yet. So if anyone has any suggestions, you have at least the weekend to pass them on to me. June 12, 2008: I'm currently implementing an RSS feed on an experimental basis. You can access it here. May 15, 2008: Aaaaaaand we're back. Let's hope that's the closest I ever have to get to going on an extended hiatus. April 8, 2008: I really hate to do this, but due to several school projects popping up at once, I'm having to put the strip on hold for a while. I've been kidding myself about this for a while now, but this comic is a big part of why I've been falling behind in my schoolwork lately and why I now have to catch up like crazy. So Mandy will return in due time. February 14, 2008: Obviously it's too late to actually buy them this year, but I decided to turn one of my recent doodles into a Valentine's Day card, which can be purchased in the Store. This strip tends to lend itself to Valentine's Day merch, so it probably won't be the last one of its kind. February 5, 2008: *sigh* One of the more annoying aspects of Web design is the pervasive need to use only fonts that all users are guaranteed to have. This isn't supposed to be a problem; that's why the designers of the HTML standards allowed for listing multiple fonts in case the first option isn't available. The problem is when (and this is fairly common actually) the font you want to use and its alternatives aren't even the same real-world size at the same specified point size. This will probably just whoosh over the heads of most of you, but the point I'm trying to make is that I've caved and revamped the site a bit, so now it's in boring-old Arial for everybody. I'm crossing my fingers that Microsoft releases its cool new fonts in a new "Essential Fonts for the Web" package soon so I can go back to Calibri. Because Calibri rules. January 23, 2008: OK, I decided to post what would have been yesterday's strip today and spend the rest of the week in catch-up. Since there was a full moon last night, this strip works better today anyhow. January 17, 2008: Perhaps I ought to clarify what breed Ginger is, in light of her being referred to as a "husky" in today's strip. She is actually an Alaskan Klee Kai, which is a small breed that looks like a miniature husky but is never actually called one. So why did Mandy call her a "husky" just now? Because if you're going to get a kid-sized dogsled (yes, that's Mrs. Lawrence's toddler on the sled in case you were confused) and hook up a stuffed-toy dog to it, said dog is naturally going to be a husky—albeit one small enough to fit the overall scale of the setup. Got it? Good. January 4, 2008: Yes, I'm late. I was out sick. And yes, I can be "out sick" from a website. December 20, 2007: Just as a heads-up: Instead of having strips Tuesday and Thursday next week, there's just going to be one strip, posted on Wednesday. This is to ensure that updates don't have to be made in the wee hours of Christmas morning, while at the same time preventing you from having to wait a whole week for the next strip. So look for a new "Mandy" on Boxing Day (or Kwanzaa, depending on who you are). December 11, 2007: Sorry about the late upload. I'm the only one actually maintaining this site, so if I'm ever either unable to access my computer the very moment I want an update to go live or, in this case, just forget to, it doesn't happen even if I've got several strips already written and the pages themselves edited accordingly. Which shows why it's so vital I find some kind of automated update queue system, and soon. November 17, 2007: I've decided to put the first Store item up already. More to come. November 6, 2007: Hi, everyone! The new comic is officially up and running! I still don't feel like I'm quite ready to run a second comic strip yet on top of everything else I do, but I figure if I force myself to update regularly, I'll be more motivated to actually come up with material than if I don't. By the by, if any of you stumbled upon this site by accident, be sure to check out my other strip, Podunk U. There's really not much else to say. I tried to make this site as complete and finished-looking as I could, but there's likely to be a fair number of additions made over the next few weeks. Plus, of course, the comic does update twice a week, so be sure to keep coming back for new material! All material on this site © 2007-2008 Pocket Fluff Productions. |
